Music - I like a whole realm of music, what I listen to varies a whole lot. I haven't really settled on any particular style or anything.
However, a long while back in high school I did play with the Susquehanna Symphony.
There are the folks I know who are musicians:
Mind's Eye
I met Pete, Adam and Tony through Mikaela at Goucher.
Sarah Pinksner
And I also know the talented Sarah from school. ***Alert*** NEW CD from Sarah!
Arts: Well, there's more to come. First I've got to haul out my old artwork from Clayworks. That was a fun class and I hope to take more clay or sculpture classes when I get the time.
Writing is definately an art. I've been confined to reading in my car as of late. I've gained a new appreciation for Stephen King. I've read Hearts in Atlantis and On Writing. After reading the second book, I think I understand more of the method, or thought process, he uses to write his books.
Currently, I'm working on the Left Behind series. Because my library didn't have the first one on tape, I started with the second book, Tribulation Force. Now I've gotten through all but the last book, The Remnant.
I've also read Necessary Madness by Jenn Crowell...er Jenn Lindsay-Stevens. I enjoyed it very much, you should read her second book!
I've been reading some non-fiction. Stories in His Own Hand: The Everyday Wisdom of Ronald Reagan. Yes, I'm a conservative. Conservative or not, you have to respect Ronald Reagan as a great man and a great communicator even though liberal revisionists would love to label him with the rubber stamp of "stupid conservative who almost ended the world."
I've also picked up Slander by Ann Coulter.
Otherwise, I generally prefer science fiction, or good short stories. Science fiction greats are Orson Scott Card, Ray Bradbury, Octavia Butler, Alfred Bester, Frank Herbert.
Fantasy is also a closet pet passion. It's a closet pet passion, only because as much as I like it, when I read it if feels like eating candy. Maybe it's that voice in my head that says fantasy can't be literature. But then, look at Midsummer Night's Dream, right? The best fantasy always comes in a series. Here are some authors, Tolkein, C.S. Lewis, J.K. Rowling, Anne McCaffrey, Robert Aspirin...see what I mean?
Then there are the authors I went to school with, was taught by, or met through a class. I never read any of the authors who taught my classes because I thought then I'd end up going to class a fan and then I'd just feel stupid every time I turned anything in. Well sometimes I felt stupid turning things in anyhow.
