Happy Birthday to Tony, exactly 3 days younger than my brother. How weird is that?

Mom says I ought to rename my site Chez Mei-Ling. Hey for the few folks who actually visit my site, what do you all think of that?

Happy Birthday, Bro!

For some reason, all the cool stuff I own now is from work. Work doesn't loan me stuff to do my job. I win it. Last Thursday I won a Palm M100. I think it's pretty cool. In December or November I won a PS2 with an extra controller, memory card, and a game.

Now about that lottery ticket...

If the circumstances were different, I don't think I would bought a PS2 or Palm Pilot because I have better things to use my money on...like saving for the day when I can put a down payment on a house, but I admit it's cool stuff to have.

Now I only have to make sure that I own my stuff and it doesn't own me. That's the tricky part.

Tax day has come and gone. Phew. This is the last year I can be claimed as a dependent. I suppose the solution to that is to go back to school. Speaking about going back to school, I've been thinking about doing that and heading towards marketing. And the reason I want to go into marketing is because I've just had an idea that stems from the most mundane of things...lipstick.

I'm really not fond of makeup for makeup's sake. But I have found something that actually does what it says it will do.

I usually buy lipstick and have it around for a year or so because I don't use it up as quickly as other people becasue it's bothersome to re-apply. But the CoverGirl Outlast lipcolor actually works.

It's more like a lip-stain. It's annoying to apply because it's the sponge-on-a-little-stick the way lip gloss used to be about five or six years ago, but you only have to put it on once before you go to work. And if it's crooked...well too bad, get some vaseline and try again, but once you've got it on, you've REALLY got it on. Put the clear coat on and you're good to go all day as long as you don't eat a greasy lunch that would work on your lips like vaseline would. It's be a best bet if they found a better way to apply it.

Marketing or advertising sounds like just about right major because I know some of the best products that were and are under-marketed. I'd love to create a campaign for the entire Casio, 3M, and Cross-pad lines. If the Reynolds Wrap ladies did it for tin foil, why can't I?

WARNING!!! WARNING!!! MY PAGE IS GOING TO BRIEFLY TURN INTO AN ADVERTISING SITE TO MAKE MY POINT!

Casio makes a PDA compatable pen and it's better than anything on the market if what they advertise is true. However, it only works for their products. If it were Palm O/S compatible...wow.

Casio also makes the best graphing calculator, but no one uses it because they don't give schools enough incentives to use their product (like Texas Instruments does for TI-80 series), they don't give classes on it, and have not positioned themselves to become the industry standard.

3M makes command strips that saved me hundreds of dollars in room deposits because I didn't drill holes in the walls when I used their wall fixtures.

The Cross-Pad was a revolutionary idea that I would have clung to faster than a PDA if it came with handwriting recognition bundled with it at a reasonable cost. But, alas, they are discontinued.

The Braille and Speak company would make the lives of all their customers easier if they went to a USB or USB2 connection to their Braille N Speaks or Braille Lites instead of the 6 pronged breakable adapters. It would make backup to disk and transfer to computer text or printers much faster and easier, not to mention connections to good OCR scanners. Imagine connecting a USB compatible GPS to a Braille-N-Speak. Matt and Christina would never have to ask directions again, their Braille-N-Speak would turn into the equivalent of a Handspring Visor. Imagine if you put MP3 voice recording ability into a Braille-N-Speak. It would turn almost their Braille-N-Speak into a low tech steno machine. With compact-flash memory availibile up to 1Gb now, they could have an amazing storage capacity. I'm not an engineer, but why COULDN'T it be done?

Wow, look how time flies. And I FINALLY got everything up and running on the Plutonianshore mirror site of the comcast site. It sure too me long enough. Because Sarah did such a great job importing from the evil Micosoft Front Page, I thought it best to keep a link to the ancient site.
